Olive People Endorses the Zámba Heritage Initiative to Advance Sustainable Forest Stewardship and Green Economic Growth in Africa

Olive People is proud to announce its formal endorsement of the Zámba Heritage Initiative, a continent-wide, African-led platform ensuring that Africa's forests generate sustainable economic value while preserving biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience, and supporting livelihoods.

Africa's forests represent approximately 20% of the world's forest resources and play a critical role in climate regulation, biodiversity conservation, and economic development.

Yet these ecosystems continue to face increasing pressure from deforestation, climate change, and underinvestment.

Convened by Forest Stewarship Council (FSC Africa), bringing together governments, businesses, investors, development partners, civil society organizations, and local communities; the Zámba Heritage Initiative seeks to address this challenge through an ambitious agenda aiming at bringing 30 million ha of forest under sustainable management and supporting more than 1,000 sustainable forest-based enterprises across 24 countries by 2036.

"At Olive People, we believe that Africa's sustainability challenges must be addressed through solutions that create opportunities for people, businesses, and communities alike. The Zámba Heritage Initiative embodies this vision by linking conservation outcomes with enterprise development, investment mobilization, skills development, workforce transformation, and multi-stakeholder partnerships" said Patrick Gaincko, Founder of Olive People.

For our corporate partners, the initiative represents an important platform for strengthening sustainable supply chains, supporting responsible sourcing, and contributing to measurable environmental and social impact. For development partners and donors, it offers a scalable framework that combines conservation, economic inclusion, private sector engagement, and climate action through collaborative implementation models.

Together, we can help ensure that Africa's natural heritage remains a driver of prosperity, resilience, and sustainable development for generations to come.

“We are delighted to welcome Olive People as a supporter of the Zamba Heritage Initiative. We are honoured to have your organization join the growing coalition of partners supporting this initiative. Your endorsement sends a strong signal of support for an African vision that seeks to place forests at the heart of the continent's environmental and development agenda” said Patrick Epie, FSC Congo Basin and West Africa Coordinator.
